Whimsical winter wedding at Cain Manor ~ Sarah + Jonathan
There is something truly magical about winter weddings, I adore them, and this one was especially wonderful. Everything was just so beautiful! The joy of Surrey wedding photography is that there are so many fabulous venues out in the beautiful countryside to choose from. This was my first time at Cain Manor, and I certainly hope that it is not my last. It’s a stunning venue but it looked particularly beautiful in the incredible winter light that day. It was freezing outside, but somehow the light looks warm through my camera lens.
The wedding ceremony
Sarah and Jonathan had pictured a day that was relaxed, full of warmth and love with their family and friends. They are both very calm, relaxed people and those traits really came through in their wedding day celebrations. The ceremony took place at St Mary Oatlands Church in Weybridge, Surrey, just 3 days after Christmas 2016, so all the decorations and the enormous tree were still there and twinkling. The Church is stunning in itself, with an enormous stained glass window at the back and ornate decoration throughout, but I loved how festive it felt that day.
Cain Manor wedding reception
After the ceremony we all headed over to Cain Manor in Farnham, a warm and rustic country manor house surrounded by woodland and the Surrey Hills. The frost on the ground and the chill in the air made for some rather cold group shots and Sarah was glad she had her LK Bennett wrap to keep her warm. Sarah’s Needle and Thread embroidered top and tulle skirt gave her a timeless, classic, vintage look. The beautiful surroundings and Sarah and Jonathan’s affection for each other made for some of my favourite wedding portraits I’ve taken.
Throughout the day, the love between Sarah and Jonathan was quite obvious for all the see, but it was most evident of all during the speeches. The way that Jonathan spoke about his new wife and the way he watched her, and held her, while she made her own emotional speech, showed his devotion.
After the wedding breakfast, everyone gathered around together, sat by the fire, drank wine or warm drinks, ate cake (Sarah’s mum had baked FIVE different flavours of bundt cake!) and chatted late into the night. It was the perfect end to the relaxed and cosy wedding day that Sarah and Jonathan had wanted.
