Clare and Rob were married back in May on typical early British summertime day. There was a bit of sunshine and a bit of rain, but there was so much warmth at this wedding that had nothing to do with the weather. Clare and Rob are both so friendly, funny and down to Earth, I really enjoyed getting to know them while they were planning their wedding. I was excited about their wedding at the Round Chapel in Hackney because I had a feeling it would be very cool and East London stylish, and I was not at all disappointed!
Wedding at the Round Chapel
The Round Chapel is one of my favourite wedding venues in London. It’s a stunning historical building which looks amazing even before you add any decoration. A few fairy lights strung around and some flowers make it look magical. It’s pretty big so you can comfortably fit 150-180 wedding guests (perhaps even more), and you can have both your ceremony and your reception all in the same building. I photographed another Round Chapel wedding back at the start of 2017, Sarah and Mark’s cool, colourful wedding which you can see by clicking here.
I also love wandering the local Clapton streets for portraits. East London streets have such a lot of character, it’s a fabulous area to get married if you are looking for an urban backdrop to your photos.
Stylish wedding details
Clare picked bridal separates from Belle and Bunty for her wedding day outfit. She looked incredible. I fell instantly in love with the white sequin skirt and satin camisole combo. She paired this outfit with mustard yellow satin LK Bennett shoes and layered necklaces from Yvonne Henderson. It all came together to create an effortlessly cool and modern bridal look.
Rob wore a dark 3 piece Moss Bros suit with brown leather brogues from Dune and a floral print tie from Etsy. I think this was one of my favourite groom looks I’ve seen, I especially loved the floral tie!
Clare and Rob had decorated the stage at the Round Chapel with flowers in tiny painted glass bottles and candles in gold holders. They also had fairy lights draped from the balcony and wrapped around each of the posts circling the room. This beautiful space doesn’t need much decoration and the little touches they had added made it look stunning.
The tables were named after pub quiz teams and each guest had a paper fortune teller (remember those from your childhood years?). These were a great ice breaker and got their guests chatting and laughing away. Rob had even brewed some beer for the occasion, using his surname Shreeves in the brand name ‘Shreevesy Lover’.
Modern romance & a laid back wedding
Clare and Rob are very chilled out, sociable and friendly people and their friends and family were all the same. They were super relaxed about the whole wedding and that really came across on the day. I loved that both the bride and the groom’s dad made speeches, as well as the bride, groom and best man. I always love it when brides do a speech on their wedding day!
These two clearly love to laugh, love to dance and love to be together with their family and friends. Their wedding day was full to the brim of love, positivity, happiness and modern romance.
