It seems so funny to now be going back over all of my weddings from the year and writing about the summer weddings during the heatwave. It’s so cold and dark outside right now it just feels strange! This wedding at The Bluebird in Chelsea was on one of the hottest days of the year, and also coincided with England’s quarter final game against Sweden in the world cup.
Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding
Nikki and Alex’s wedding ceremony took place at the beautiful Chelsea Old Town Hall in London. It’s such a gorgeous building and it was a beautiful ceremony. After the confetti and a few group shots on the steps outside it was time for the groomsmen to break out the mini champagne bottles. Everyone grabbed a bottle (some grabbed more than one…!) and it was a fun atmosphere for the walk down the King’s Road to continue the wedding at The Bluebird.
Couple portraits in Chelsea
After a drink and a mingle at The Bluebird (and hearing that England had won their game to a chorus of loud cheering!), I jumped in the wedding car with Nikki and Alex and we made our way over to Albert Bridge for a few photos. We managed to get one right in the middle of the road when there was a break in the cars! We also had a wander around the streets of Chelsea before returning to the party. It’s such a beautiful area for portraits. I’m not sure Nikki and Alex were really sure what to expect from the portrait session before the wedding day, but once we got going they both really enjoyed it!
Wedding at The Bluebird
Nikki and Alex had gone for blush pink florals and rose gold details for their wedding at The Bluebird. The wedding breakfast room looked stunning and is just flooded with natural light – my favourite kind of venue! The atmosphere during the 3 speeches was so much fun. There was lots of laughter, cheering, a bit of heckling, a few happy tears and plenty of hugs at the end.
Not long after the evening guests started to arrive and the music started. It felt like the day had passed in a complete whirlwind, it went by so quickly! Soon everyone had crowded the dance floor and were showing off their best moves. This bunch were such a lot of fun, what a brilliant day!
