Natacha and Rupert’s wedding at Farnham Castle was just glorious from start to finish. Obviously it helped that the summer sunshine was beaming all day, but also, what a venue! Farnham Castle is just stunning to look around and I loved what they had done with the decorations inside. There were fairy lights EVERYWHERE, which in my opinion is exactly the right amount of fairy lights. There were also some fantastic DIY table centrepieces which Rupert had fashioned himself from blocks of wood, copper pipes and lots of beautiful flowers. I was quite taken with the cake table which displayed, not one, not two, but SIX homemade cakes made by the mother and father of the groom. I managed to sneak a piece of the lemon drizzle late in the day and I can confirm it was amazing.
Natacha looked beautiful in her chic and simple white wedding dress, paired with a flower crown and flat sky-blue pumps which she later swapped for some personalised wedding Converse. Rupert wore a 3-piece suit, pairing a grey waistcoat with navy trousers and jacket, and a sky-blue tie and pocket square. I loved the blue and purple colour scheme, the flowers looked lovely and tied in well with the bridesmaids’ blue floral printed tea dresses. Natacha made sure to let me know that they all had pockets, including her wedding dress, so we made sure to get photo evidence. We love pockets!
After the ceremony the sun came out so everyone enjoyed a glass of bucks fizz or a Pimms out on the lawn along with a few canopés. As there were a few children in attendance at the wedding, Natacha and Rupert had wanted there to be something to keep them entertained. So they came up with the unique idea to hang a piñata in a tree – isn’t that brilliant! The kids loved it and had so much fun (and I spotted the bride and groom having a go as well!).
Before everyone sat down for the wedding breakfast I stole Rupert and Natacha away for some portraits around the castle grounds. The great thing about a wedding at Farnham Castle is that there really is so much scope for a variety of photo backdrops. There are the gardens around the back with the decaying, tumbledown walls of the castle in the background, there are plenty of options for photos inside the castle if the weather is not ideal, and of course there is the keep with amazing views over Farnham. We saved the keep for later in the evening as we wanted that golden hour light.
This wedding at Farnham Castle was so much fun from start to finish. I loved getting to know Natacha and Rupert and see all their ideas come to life on the day. Thanks so much to my second shooter on the day, Beth Lavin, for getting some awesome shots.
