I always say that I love to shoot weddings that are a bit different and couples who do things their own way. Well Juliet and Simon’s wedding at Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch was certainly unique!
Wedding ceremony at One Moorgate Place
They started the day at One Moorgate Place, a very beautiful grade II historic building in Central London. The room where they got married was stunning. With murals painted on the walls, chandeliers, stained glass windows and a gorgeous dome in the ceiling it was incredible and ornate.
The wedding ceremony itself was sweet and sentimental. Juliet and Simon had written their own beautiful vows for each other, Juliet was given a wedding bracelet rather than a ring, and as well as two readings during the ceremony there were also two wonderful and heartfelt speeches after they signed the register.
Rainy wedding day
We were meant to walk over to the Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch an hour or so after the ceremony, however the heavy rain meant that we stayed at One Moorgate Place longer than planned. It’s a beautiful venue so it was lovely to spend more time there, but Juliet had her heart set on a photo walk. I was pretty excited about it too, London street portraits are my favourite portraits! The rain carried on, and it really didn’t look like we were going to want to spend any time outside at all. But just as we had all given up and were starting to organise taxis, the clouds parted and the sun came out. The walk was back on!
On the walk to Shoreditch I got a lovely mix of natural and documentary photos of everyone walking together as well as some fun and creative portraits . We even got a photo in front of some graffiti which perfectly matched the colours of Juliet’s wedding bouquet. I was so excited!
Wedding at Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch
The wedding reception at Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch was so much fun. There was a bowling alley, ping pong and table football which made for some brilliant action shots. There were also some truly hilarious speeches which I thoroughly enjoyed. They had two wedding cakes, a sweet one for Juliet and a cheese cake for Simon.
There was no dancing at the end of this wedding, they had already had a good dance at their wedding in Singapore and they were having another wedding in Germany the following week. This wedding was the informal wedding. The fun London one where they just wanted to be able to spend time with their family and friends chatting and playing games. It was wonderful and unique, such a fun day from start to finish. I was so pleased to be involved in such a fantastic day.
