Alissa and Josh found their wedding venue on Airbnb! How amazing is that?! They planned a low key, personal and unique Waterside Manor wedding in the Kent countryside. They knew that they wanted creative, documentary wedding photography for their big day and I loved the sound of their super relaxed wedding so it was a perfect match!
Waterside Manor wedding
Alissa and Josh were both getting ready at Waterside Manor. Alicia was in one “wing” of the house with her bridesmaids, and Josh and his groomsmen were in the other. I split my time between the two of them while they got ready and opened presents surrounded by their friends and family. As we were all going to be travelling to the registry office together, we had set aside a few minutes for a first look. Josh waited out in the gardens looking out over the beautiful view of the river. As Alissa entered the garden he turned, and the look on his face was magic. She looked stunning! There were some happy tears and some hugs, and then we all jumped into cars to the registry office.
Alissa and Josh had their wedding ceremony at The Mansion House in Tunbridge Wells. We all waited in a room together before the ceremony and it was a time of emotional chats, huge hugs and happy reunions. We made our way into the ceremony room and everyone took their seats before Alissa entered with her dad, her eyes shining and a huge smile on her face. The ceremony was sweet, emotional and felt very personal.
Afternoon tea, BBQ & party
Alissa and Josh had decided that they wanted to sit down for afternoon tea with just their immediate families after we had returned from the wedding ceremony. They had many more guests arriving for the BBQ and party later, but they wanted this time to be just family. They had real Cornish pasties (which were amazing) and scones with clotted cream and jam, as well as tea and mini bottles of champagne. It was a gorgeous and intimate time of the day before the mayhem descended later.
After we had done some group shots and some couple portraits it was time for the rest of the guests to arrive at the Waterside Manor wedding reception. For entertainment there was table football inside and table tennis outside, as well as all the gorgeous views around the house. It was a very chilled out atmosphere, with everyone just chatting and mingling until the BBQ food was served. As the sun started to set we all gathered outside for a quick and informal speech from the bride and groom before they did their first dance while everyone surrounded them with sparklers. It was beautiful!
If anyone is keen to have a super relaxed wedding day, Waterside Manor is a fantastic venue for this. You are completely in control of all the timings and details of the day. Alissa and Josh’s Waterside Manor wedding was exactly how they wanted it to be, very chilled out, very personal and completely beautiful.
