[T]his was a lovely vintage wedding that I was second shooter at with Rachel Hayton photography as the main shooter back in October last year. I don’t usually blog about weddings where I am the second shooter, but this venue was just so gorgeous and there was a VINTAGE FUNFAIR!! And a wedding dog with a bow tie!! Obviously I had to blog about it.
Vintage wedding venue
Cerise and John got married at Marleybrook House, a cute and rustic wedding venue in the heart of the Kent countryside. There were so many rustic details and also some uber cool retro signage that I just adored. I had to try hard not to load up a tractor and take it all back to my house with me.
The wedding day
As second shooter, I spent the first part of the day with the groom and his ushers who were all nervously sipping their beers and looking out at the pouring rain from beneath a canopy. It really was hammering it down which was such a shame because this venue really is made for good weather. Luckily no one let it dampen their spirits and soon enough the rain calmed down enough for everyone to be able to explore the venue a bit.
The most exciting moment for me was when Rossco, Cerise’s Shar Pei dog turned up. With his flowery lead and his black bow tie, he was basically the best dressed guest in attendance. He was so happy to be there and getting involved in the festivities, he didn’t stop smiling the whole day.
The wedding ceremony was relaxed and lovely. My favourite part was when one of the couple’s friends stood up to do a reading. I was expecting the regular romantic, lovey-dovey words, so I was so happy when she began reciting the words to Everyone’s Free to Wear Sunscreen by Baz Luhrmann. What a work of genius!
The rest of the day passed in a whirlwind of food, speeches, cake and dancing, and it was such a relaxed wedding that I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it.
