When Jenny and Will asked me to shoot their wedding, I had no idea how beautiful it would turn out to be. It was going to be a countryside wedding on their friend’s land in Berkshire. I went with them to visit the location before the big day, and WOW! I was blown away. What an incredibly beautiful place. It’s a piece of land with a lake in the middle in a small Berkshire village called Twyford. Jenny and Will organised for a huge marquee to be erected by the lake, and put together so many gorgeous details too. It was stunning.
A countryside wedding
Their wedding ceremony took place in Wargrave St Marys Church and it was beautiful! After the confetti Jenny and Will jumped into their vintage car and made their way over to the reception venue. We were all greeted with glasses of Aperol Spritz and the most beautiful wedding scenery. The weather was just glorious, there was barely a cloud in the sky. There were iced beers in a row boat, a tree with photos of family tied onto it (a family tree!), bales of hay and plenty of lawn games to keep their guests entertained. Giant Jenga was definitely a favourite!
The lake provided the perfect backdrop for the group photos and couple portraits, as well as a few swan photobombs!
The evening reception
As the sun started to get a bit hazy everyone made their way into the marquee for the food and speeches. Jenny and Will had hired Bark ‘n’ Render as their caterers who had prepared the most amazing beef brisket. It was fabulous, and perfect food for a relaxed countryside wedding.
Sadly the sun went down during the speeches, so there was no opportunity to get some sunset portraits, but we still went out into the blue evening light to get a few more photos before the dancing got going. And the dancing really did get going, and fast! After Jenny and Will did their first dance (which included an amazing Strictly-Come-Dancing-style lift) everyone was in the mood to hit the dance floor.
It was a fun end to a fabulous day at a beautiful countryside wedding.
