Rainy summer Parkside School wedding
Plans for a Perfect Pinterest wedding
Emma had been planning her beautiful outdoor summer Parkside School wedding for months. Reading blogs, scanning Pinterest and planning out all the finer details. It was going to be beautiful, the ceremony was going to be out in the grounds at Parkside school where her dad works. The guests would be seated in rows by the river, the sun would be shining, Emma would emerge from behind the hedges to glide up the aisle where she would marry Martin under a stunning chandelier that would be hanging from a large tree. It was going to be magnificent, and as pretty as anything you would see on Pinterest. However, not everything exactly went to plan.
Rainy day wedding
Unfortunately, during the great British summer, even on a day in the middle of July you can’t guarantee brilliant sunshine. Emma and Martin weren’t naive, they had prepared for a bit of rain. As rain had been forecast they had set up a marquee over where the guests were going to be sitting during the ceremony, so you would think that would be fine. Wrong. What none of us were prepared for, was the non-stop TORRENTIAL rain that battered down on the Surrey wedding venue for most of the day.
Before Emma arrived all of the guests were hiding under the marquee, but the rain was so heavy they were all getting soaked anyway. It didn’t show any signs of stopping, so when she got to Parkside School and had to be escorted inside under an umbrella she took the decision to move the ceremony inside. It was sad because of all the effort they had put in, but ultimately I think it was the right decision.
Parkside School wedding
So in the end, Emma and Martin were married on the beautiful wooden staircase at Parkside School in Cobham, and it was wonderful. The music wasn’t working so Emma and her dad walked in to an enthusiastic round of applause from their guests, and Emma could not have looked happier. Both Emma and Martin looked fabulous, the ceremony was heartfelt and sweet with a few laughs along the way, and we even managed to sneak out afterwards in between the rain showers to get some couple portraits.
I actually think the best thing about their wedding day was Emma and Martin’s attitude. They could have let the rain get them down and ruin their day, but they didn’t. They still made sure they had a really fun, laid back wedding and an awesome party at the end. It was clear everyone was having a brilliant time, and even though it wasn’t quite what they expected, it was definitely a day to remember. I think it was just as beautiful as the wedding they planned.
