Port Isaac wedding – Cornwall wedding photographer
So now that I have shot a wedding in Cornwall I think I might just want to be a Cornwall wedding photographer full-time! It is just so beautiful, the Port Isaac village was quaint and wonderful, and the village hall was such a sweet looking venue. I loved Megan and Danny’s wedding so much, it was a day full to the brim of love, family and delicious Cornish food. I don’t think I’ve ever been fed so much at a wedding!
Port Isaac wedding
Some of you reading may have heard of Port Isaac before as it is the filming location for Martin Clunes’ TV series Doc Martin. It’s as picturesque as it looks on screen, with a beautiful cove full of fishing boats, crumbling cliffs and seagulls-a-plenty. A perfect location for wedding photography in Cornwall! The houses that line the streets are equally pretty, some painted in pastel tones, some looking slightly wonky or draped in dangling flowers. One of my favourite parts of Megan and Danny’s wedding was after the ceremony when a few of us went for a walk through the streets of Port Isaac down to the little beach for some photos. There was lots of staring, cheering and “congratulations!” from the local people, and I just love the relaxed vibe you can see in the photos.

Despite the 7 hour drive down (my own fault for leaving at 11am on a Friday!) I loved everything about this wedding and would happily be a Cornwall wedding photographer more often! After my long drive and arriving at the b&b, I decided to take a wonder around the village and also drop in on some drinks at Meg’s parents’ fish and chip shop. This was great because I managed to get my bearings ahead of the wedding and also meet a few people who would be involved in the wedding too. The wedding day itself was very relaxed and laid back, and had vintage video games inside the village hall to keep people entertained (that is, when they weren’t being fed fresh lobster from a tray).
Let’s talk about the wedding cake
The cake was a great example of “business in the front and party in the back”. It looked beautiful with classic white icing and covered in a beautiful floral arrangement, so far so normal. But then, upon further investigation, I discovered a section at the back dedicated to Marvel characters, my favourite being the Hulk’s hand punching out of the bottom tier. Danny’s figurine on top was dressed as Captain America, and Megan’s was wearing a wedding dress but carrying a shield like a badass.
I’m really keen to shoot more weddings in Cornwall, so if you are indeed looking for a Cornwall wedding photographer please do get in touch via my Contact page. I look forward to hearing from you!
