I had never heard of having a wedding at The Depot before Josh and Pippa booked me to shoot their London wedding last summer. Now all of a sudden it seems to be a super popular venue with all the cool kids getting married in London and wanting a laidback pub vibe for their wedding reception. It’s a brilliant venue! It’s got an awesome industrial, edgy look, with long trestle tables for the sit down meal and two higher levels where you can have the dancing later on and a more chilled out area for people who like reclining on a leather sofa, and everyone is technically still in the same room.
Pippa and Josh had their wedding ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Walthamstow. It was a lovely ceremony which ended with them walking out to the theme tune of Parks and Recreation which always makes me smile. After the wedding ceremony all of the guests walked together to the tube station to make their way up to North London and The Depot. It was fun to be on the underground with an entire wedding party and all the guests spread throughout the carriages on the train.
The inside of The Depot had been set up beautifully for the wedding reception. The trestle tables held gorgeous big copper plates for each guest and were covered in candles and green foliage. The room itself was strung with white bunting and more fairy lights than you could shake a stick at.
Pippa’s midi-length, 50s style wedding dress was perfect for twirling her way through the first dance. Her energetic dance style had been mentioned at various points throughout the day; I was expecting great things and I was not to be disappointed! They also did a father-daughter dance and as a witness I can say I have a pretty good idea from whom she inherited her dance moves. Straight after the first dance the wedding guests all piled onto the dance floor surrounded by fairy lights. It was such a great atmosphere and so much fun to shoot.
