Chloe and Mark’s festival themed wedding was definitely a highlight in my calendar towards the end of wedding season in 2017. I was thrilled to shoot their High Billinghurst Farm wedding, it was so colourful, happy, super chilled-out and fun. Chloe is incredibly organised so the day ran like clockwork, and I loved all the personal touches that made the wedding totally unique to them. It was such a wonderful day to be involved in!
The wedding morning
Chloe and Mark both got ready at the Inn on the Lake in Godalming, Surrey. They were in separate rooms on opposite sides of the hotel so although I spent most of the morning with the bride and bridesmaids (all 10 of them!) while they were getting ready, I was also able to pop over to see the boys for a while as well. There was such a great atmosphere for bridal prep in the morning (you can find some advice on getting the most out of bridal prep right here), everyone was excited for the day ahead and there was also some marryoke being filmed which was good fun.
High Billinghurst Farm wedding
The wedding ceremony took place in the small barn at High Billinghurst Farm, which I thought looked absolutely beautiful. The small barn is attached to a larger barn which was all set up with tables for the wedding breakfast. This worked very well later in the day because it meant the guests didn’t have to venture out too often into the festival-worthy rainy weather! Luckily we were able to sneak in the group shots and some couple portraits when the sun temporarily decided to make an appearance. However we did need to be rescued by a groomsman with a large umbrella when we got stranded in the toilet block during mid-portrait session downpour!
Chloe and Mark chose to have curry for their wedding meal, which I had never seen at a wedding before but LOVED. It was absolutely delicious! It fit in well with the festival theme and made for a fun and informal wedding dinner. Also worth a mention was the incredible wedding cake which was made by one of the bridesmaids. It looked amazing!
The evening began with the first dance which was closely followed by the marryoke finale. The song they had chosen was Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now and I’m sure you can imagine the enthusiastic flailing limbs, air guitars and other rock star moves I witnessed for the finale. It was hilarious and brilliant.
Night time portraits
My highlight of the day was braving the rain with Chloe and Mark to get some portraits after the sun had gone down. There were beautiful festoon lights hanging over by the bell tents where several of the guests were going to be spending the night in true glamping style. I was determined to get some shots there because I knew it would be beautiful and unique to the venue. So Chloe put her pink wellies on, we grabbed a couple of umbrellas and made our way down there. It was so worth it, they’re some of my favourite photos from the day!
