2019 weddings round-up

I love being a wedding photographer. What a year it’s been! I have so enjoyed being involved in the weddings that I have shot in the past year and I’ve been to some incredible venues. What is most important for me isn’t the venue though, it’s the people that I work with. I always hope to feel a connection with the couples whose weddings I’ll be shooting, it’s such a big, important, emotional day for you, I want to be someone who will just slot in with you and your favourite people like I’d been there all along. I really felt like that with my couples this year!

I feel like a lot of people tend to get nervous about their wedding photography. If you are anything like me, what you would dread about your wedding would be the fact that you have to be centre of attention all day (I’m definitely not someone who enjoys all eyes being on me!), and the fear that the wedding photographer would put me and my partner in loads of cringey, fake-romantic poses that didn’t feel like “us”. I don’t do that. As I tell all my wedding couples, I want them to look back through their photos after the wedding and see their real memories, not a set up moment or forced fun for the camera. I want them to remember having their photos taken as being a fun and relaxed part of the day, and not at all as awkward as they expected!

Going through all my wedding photos from the year and getting it down to my favourite 80-ish (from 12,500 wedding photos delivered in 2019!) was an enormous task. It’s been a good exercise for me though because I went through looking for the kind of images that I try to shoot at each wedding – heartfelt, warm, genuine and natural images full of heart and emotion. I hope the selection I have chosen shows you that wedding photos don’t have to be stiff, formal, awkward or cheesy. Your photos can tell the genuine story of your day, and capture all those happy moments you will want to remember in a natural way.

Take a look through my faves photos from 2019. There’s a slideshow to music below but if you prefer a slow scroll (or if you are sneakily looking through this at work!) you can scroll past the slideshow to the images below.

I’m currently taking wedding bookings for 2020 and 2021 so if you are looking for informal and natural photography full of heart and sentiment do get in touch!

“We could not have asked for a better photographer for our wedding. Our photos are filled with emotions, happy tears, laughter and joy, all captured perfectly. We are so very grateful to her and could not recommend Nikki highly enough.” Natacha & Rupert

“From the word go, Nikki was absolutely fantastic. We immediately felt at ease with her and were really impressed with how professional she was, without being too formal. She captured the day in such a special way and our friends and family have all been delighted and so impressed. We’re really thankful Nikki, and so happy we picked you.” Nicola & Simon

“Nikki was a delight to work with – thoughtful, unobtrusive, captured the feel of our wedding perfectly and authentically. She really cares and it is truly evident in her photography. These are the best wedding photos we’ve ever seen and we would 100% recommend her!” Josh & Pippa

If you would like to meet for a coffee to discuss your wedding photography (or if you’re not local we can have a chat over skype) then please do get in touch via my contact page. I would love to hear from you!
